KPESA Bargaining Update for 02-07-12

 

The Bargaining Team met with the District Tuesday, Feb 7 at the Risk Management Building! 

 

Many thanks for the lunch and other munchies go out to Natalie Kohler and the staff at Skyview High School. 

 

The meeting began at 1:35 pm

 

The first part of the meeting was KPEA discussing their sections ... see LaDawns' update! 

 

Sean presented the following Counter Proposals to Terri

 

Article 2 - Definitions  leaving Grant Funded Employee  in place and changes to Seniority -  The length of continuous service measured from the most recent date of employment.  District approved professional, educational, sabbatical, health or military leave shall not be considered as interruption of service and time on such leaves shall be counted toward seniority. 

Association's last proposal seeks to remove the Grant Funded Employee language and add Seniority - defining seniority and Qualified - Defining  the Education Support Personnel has previous satisfactory district experience in the job classification and/or demonstrates skills requiried for the position, regardless of how or where those skills were acquired. 

 

Article 7 - Personnel Files

       C.  New language adding If the Superintendent deems it necessary to retain the material, the employee shall be informed. 

       F.   Adding within 20 days that an employee has to repsond to material to be added to their file. 

  Association's last proposal seeks:

       C.  Same as the district

       F.  Changing  20 days to 30 days

Article 10-Work Rules

      Is a work in progress for both sides 

         

 

Terri told Sean that she'd be willing to sign off on Article 5 - Membership Rights when the District signed off on Article 3 -Association Rights - which is the agency fee provision for the Association. 

The Association will be working on the following Articles that are tied together....

Article 9A - Reclass Committee

Article 16A - Career Advancement - all new language from the Association which would give a monetary compensation for furthering an employee's education for their current position or a potential future position. 

Article 33 - Career Development  - current language that financially assists employees attend classes to better themselves. 

Sean told Terri that the District would be interested in looking at a proposal. 

 

We will caucus all day on Wednesday, Feb 8 and meet again on Feb 9 at the Risk Management Building at noon.
