Update from Bargaining

The team met today at the Borough Risk Management Building.
Thank you to the Soldotna Elementary staff for the basket of goodies.
We began at 2:00 pm.
Terri and Sean begin discussions.
Sean gives Terri answers to three additional questions that were asked regarding health care.
Sean gives Joe a counter for Section 110 Salary Conditions. Their paragraph G. states:
Credits earned after initial placement on the salary schedule will be evaluated by the Human Resources and must qualify under at least one of the following:
(a) taken as part of a completed advanced degree; or
(b) relate to an immediate assignment
Official transcripts that give evidence of course completion must be submitted to the HR Dept no later than October 1.
CEU’s can be substituted for semester credits at a rate of three units every five years. CDU’s may be awarded without limit as semester credit to Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists for all CEU’s that relate to the immediate assignment. Each workshop or clinic must be at least 15 contact hours and must be verified by submitting to the HR dept before Oct 1 a certificate of attendance noting the sponsor and title of the clinic or workshop, name of employee and number of contact hours.
CEU’s will not be awarded for clinics or workshops associated with offerings from the KPBSD professional development department.
The change in 115 is the official documents must be submitted by October 1.
Sean also presented Joe with a counter to 120 Extracurricular Programs. Their paragraph H. reads : The range and/or range assignment will be posted on the District web page as an “Appendix”. Any changes to the Appendix for the following year shall be made before the last day of the current school year. For the first year of this agreement (FY 13) the Appendix will represent Fall and Winter Cocurricular range and/or range assignment and will be updated before January 1, 2012 with Spring cocurricular range and/or range assignments.
The district would like to have Section 545 KPEA Leave go back to current language (again, we are asking the district to pay the benefit portion of the full time release president).
A discussion of what the district still has of ours and what we have of theirs.
A calendar discussion.
Sean: on February 20th we want to verify all costs of all proposals.
Joe gives Sean our counter for Section 120 Extracurricular H. The schedule of activities and the corresponding ranges shall be published on the District’s website as an Appendix at the same location as the Negotiated Agreement. Any change for the 2013 school year that lowers a range assignment identified in the Appendix shall be published on July 2, 2012. Any changes for the following school year that lowers a range assignment identified in the Appendix shall be made before the last school day of the current school year.
