02-01-12 KPESA Bargaining Update

The team met today, Feb 1, at the conference room in the 4-D building.The food and goodies from Linda Ferkinhoff, Emily Mechtenberg, Henry Anderson, Nancy Hamburg, and Maribeth Snell, was so appreciated. * My apologies if I left anyone out. Bargaining began at 1:00 pm with the district.

Sean began by saying they didn't have the budget/audit numbers for us on healthcare yet, but would try to get them together for us by the weekend. Also that they would need to break no later than 3:30 pm and all day Saturday. So there will be No bargaining sessions this Saturday

Sean told Terri that the District would accept our counter proposal on:
Article 11 - Discipline & Discharge: Going back to 30 days in letter G. We T/Ad the Article. (We Tentatively Agreed)

Sean gave Terri the following counter proposals:

Article 13 - Reduction in Force:
Letter A3: Put initial seniority list in the first 30 days after school starts and the 2nd seniority list in January back in the language.
Letter B1: District wants to keep it to 3 working days to accept an offered position
Letter B2: District agrees to keep a laid off employee on the rehire list for 18 months.
Article 23 - Unpaid Leave of Absence:
Letter E: District wants to keep "Leaves of 1 week or less" - Association wants to delete mention of a time line and say "Unpaid Leaves"
Terri offered the following Counter Proposal:

Article 7 - Personnel Files:
Letter F: An employee has 30 days to respond ties in with language in Articles 11 Discipline & 34 - Greivance Procedure.

Caucus was called at 1:35
Came back at 2:00

Terri TAd (Tentatively Agreed):
Article 18 - Leaves and Benefits; adding the holiday from Article 19
Article 19 - Holidays: Removing the floating holiday and adding it to Annual leave in Article 18

The rest of the afternoon was dedicated to KPEA discussion.
